MADRAS, Ore. (KTVZ) – A two-vehicle fatal head-on crash Saturday morning closed U.S. Highway 26 about five miles north of Madras until midday, Oregon State Police reported.

Troopers said one person was killed in the collision and others received minor injuries. More details are expected later.

The Oregon Department of Transportation reported a detour was in place for motorists.

ODOT posted to TripCheck around 10 a.m. a note regarding the crash near milepost 112. The agency said to "expect delays in the area" and that "a local detour is in place, follow signs."

The highway was reopened before 1 p.m., and the crash investigation was "causing minimal delay to traffic. Prepare to slow or move over for worker safety," ODOT said.

    We’ll have updates as available.
