DCG Softball Ends Great Season With Loss
Dallas Center – Grimes softball played in a consolation 4A state game on Tuesday afternoon when they took on Norwalk in Fort Dodge, and the Warriors of Norwalk were able to get the victory winning the contest 3-1. DCG will end with a final record of 32-10 while Norwalk ends the year at 30-8.
Jayette Offense Relied Heavily on Top of the Order
Perry softball had a very inconsistent offense this past season. They had 11 games where they scored six runs or more. The Jayettes also had 13 games where they scored one or no runs. On the year, Perry averaged 4.4 runs per game as they went 10-19. The team would hit a modest .292. Karagyn Whelchel destroyed the ball all season long. The sophomore hit .454 to lead the club. She struck out just 5 times in 97 at bats. Her younger sister, Kalley Whelchel, had an average of .388 second on the team among qualified hitters. In a smaller sample size, Cate Erickson, hit .383. Emmalee Bell blasted five homeruns to lead the team and hit .359. Bell added 20 RBI’s a team high for a second straight campaign. The Jayettes had 5 seniors typically in the lineup and will have to replace that production next season.
Spring Crest and Painted Woods West neighborhoods in Waukee to get new playgrounds in 2025
