Set to appear among the hordes in the enviable lineup for this year’s Ripplefest Texas, the Jadd Shickler-fronted — formerly of Spiritu, best known for his work with Blues Funeral Recordings, Magnetic Eye, ex-Meteorcity, and so on — heavy rockers from Albuquerque will issue their second full-length, Everything Fades. The band are rolling out the title-track — and I do mean rolling — to coincide with the album’s announcement, and the song’s gritty hook should pique the interest of anyone who caught onto the band’s 2022 debut, Ephemeral (review here) or the 2023 split they issued with High Desert Queen, Turned to Stone Ch. 8: The Wake (review here) last year.

Plenty of beds at Albuquerque Homeless shelter
Recently the Albuquerque Journal had an article discussing the need for a new contractor at the West Side homeless shelter. The article included one noteworthy line which we have highlighted below. According to it on June 20, 2024 the West Side shelter had 170 open beds. Now, thanks to a recent US Supreme Court decision cities are confirmed nationwide to be allowed to clear “homeless” off public rights-of-way and parks and other public spaces.

The Street Slayerz Car Club will host a benefit raffle, starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, July 19, in the Farmington Fun Center parking lot at 6520 E. Main St. There is a $5 car cruise entry fee, and all makes and models are encouraged to participate. The raffle tickets will start at $10 per raffle ticket, or two tickets for $18 or three tickets for $25. All proceeds raised from the event will benefit fallen peace officer Bill Hooser's family. Hooser served locally for some time as a San Juan County Sheriff’s Deputy.

Socorro man sentenced to 273 years in prison
Kenneth Dunklee, 38, of Socorro was sentenced last week to 273 years in prison for sexual crimes against a child and incest. State of New Mexico Prosecuting Attorney Stacey Ward requested a minimum of 60 years and a maximum of 200 years at the sentencing hearing on July 9 at the Seventh Judicial Court. The attorney claimed Dunklee showed no remorse, empathy, or responsibility in his actions.
