Global IT outage has widespread impacts on city and state agencies in the Triangle
RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — City and state agencies are working to get up and running after experiencing a range of interruptions with their services due to the global IT outage. The NCDMV said all of its driver licenses offices are back open after being impacted by the outage. Most plate agencies, which are privately run and managed by the DMV will remain closed until Monday. A spokesperson said the DMV will try to contact people who had appointments this morning to reschedule.

Vice President Kamala Harris came to Fayetteville on July 18 -- in what was her seventh visit to the Tar Heel state in 2024.The state's 16 electoral votes are highly sought after in what could shape up to be a close election.The last Democrat running for president to win North Carolina was Barack Obama in his first term back in 2008. Since then the state has gone red for Mitt Romney and Donald Trump twice.However, Democrats are optimistic because Trump's margin of victory shrank from 173,315 votes against Hillary Clinton in 2016 to just 74,483 votes against Joe Biden in 2020.
Area towns receive help with water projects

A 72-year-old South Carolina man died Saturday after his kayak capsized in the water near Cape Hatteras National Seashore.According to Cape Hatteras National Seashore, the incident happened Saturday morning. Officials said the man launched his kayak from the beach near Cape Hatteras National Seashore's Ramp 43, located east of the Cape Point Campground near Buxton.Bystanders at the beach told officials they saw the kayak capsize while attempting to ride a wave about 50 yards from the beach. They then swam out to help pull the man from the kayak and brought him back to the beach.ALSO SEE: Alligator 'taken into custody' for loitering, trespassing at Sunset Beach police stationRescue crews attempted to resuscitate the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene."We send our condolences to the kayaker's family and friends," Cape Hatteras National Seashore Superintendent David Hallac said on social media.The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission is investigating the incident.

Four-star defensive end Bryce Davis committed to Clemson on Saturday, picking the Tigers over Georgia, Duke, and South Carolina. According to 247 Sports composite rankings, Davis is the No. 59 overall player and No. 8 defensive lineman in his class. The 6-foot-3, 245-pound edge rusher was a priority for Clemson, receiving one of their first offers last June. He visited several times over the past year, including an official visit in June. With the addition of Davis comes a jump in the Tigers’ 2025 class rankings.
