A Tennessee woman was sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty in a crash that killed a 13-year-old Mississippi boy.

Brittany Norris, 36, of Counce, Tennessee, pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated DUI on Tuesday, Aug. 6

On September 20, 2021, Norris was reportedly driving negligently while impaired by substances, leading to a head-on collision on Mississippi Highway 365.

The crash resulted in the death of a 13-year-old boy and caused permanent injuries to the boy’s mother and sister.

Circuit Judge Michael P. Mills Jr. accepted the plea deal from the District Attorney’s office, sentencing Norris to 40 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

The case was investigated by the Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Department and Mississippi Highway Patrol officers Anthony Franks and Johnathon Ragan. It was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Clay Cummings, Megan French, and Kyle Robbins.
