Mississippi agents uncover illegal gambling operation — seize money, destroy machines

Mississippi officials report finding an illegal gambling setup in Grenada County.

WTVA in Tupelo reports that local and state law enforcement discovered multiple gaming machines at AK Express on Highway 8 East in Grenda County.

Officials with the Grenada County Sheriff’s Office and agents with the Mississippi Gaming Commission and Alcoholic Beverage Control found the machines, along with an undisclosed amount of cash at the scene.

Investigators believe the machines and money were used for illegal gambling.

Officials seized the money and one machine and then destroyed the other machines.

One arrest was also made in the investigation.
