For nearly a month, authorities have been searching for a man who has disappeared with only his some of his belongings found along a Mississippi creek.

The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office is actively searching for Derek Gray, a 50-year-old man who has been missing since late July.

The search began on July 29 when a woman living with Gray in the Yellow Creek area of Steens called 911 for assistance.

Gray’s family filed a missing person report on Aug. 8, noting that it was highly unusual for him to be out of contact for such a long period.

Deputies have conducted searches in and around Yellow Creek, where some of Gray’s belongings were discovered, but there has been no sign of him.

Authorities are urging anyone with information on Gray’s whereabouts to contact the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office at (662) 328-6788 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at (662) 494-0109.
