Elderly couple airlifted after being found shot in their Mississippi home overnight

Mississippi law enforcement officers are investigating after finding an elderly couple shot at their Meridian house.

One of the victims has died after the couple was airlifted to a Jackson hospital. The other victim remains in critical condition, according to WTOK in Meridian.

Officers from the Meridian Police Department responded to reports of a shooting that occurred Wednesday night in the 1600 Block of 37th Avenue.

After they arrived at the scene, they found the two elderly victims had been shot.

Few details have been released in the case, which continues to be under investigation by the Meridian Police Department.
