Seven people were killed, and more than 30 people were injured after a commercial bus wreck on the Mississippi interstate after midnight Saturday.

The tragic accident occurred when a commercial bus overturned on I-20 West in Warren County just after 12:30 a.m.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol reported that among the deceased were a brother and sister, ages 6 and 16. The sister tragically died at the scene, while her younger brother succumbed to his injuries later at a hospital.

The injured victims have been transported to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities have confirmed that the passengers were from Mexico and Guatemala.

Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace described the scene as heartbreaking, stating, “Multiple injuries and multiple fatalities … it just compounds the tragedy.”

First responders remain on the scene, and the incident is currently under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
