Domestic violence allegations against Mississippi sheriff under investigation

Mississippi agents are reportedly investigating allegations of domestic violence involving the Clarke County Sheriff.

WTOK News in Meridan released a statement from the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation saying, “The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating an incident regarding allegations of domestic violence involving the Clarke County Sheriff. Due to this being an open and ongoing investigation, no further comment will be made.“

In response, Clarke County Sheriff Anthony Chancelor released a statement: “There have been allegations made in reference to an incident that took place in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 22nd where I have been residing. This is a personal matter between my wife and I. In light of the circumstances, my Chief Deputy and I made the decision to call MBI to do a thorough investigation to the entire situation. I want Clarke County to know that this situation, in no way, has affected my ability to lead as your Sheriff. My family and I appreciate your prayers during this time.”
