Residents in North Mississippi should prepare for significant rainfall. The remnants of Hurricane Helene are expected to bring storms to the region starting Friday. The National Weather Service (NWS) forecasts rainfall totals of 3 to 4 inches, with some areas potentially receiving up to 6 inches.

The heaviest rain is predicted to begin late Thursday night and continue into Saturday morning. Flash flood warnings are in place for regions close to the Tennessee-Mississippi state line, particularly in flood-prone areas such as low-lying roads, small streams, and highways like I-55.

NWS is advising residents to avoid unnecessary travel during the heaviest rainfall and to monitor local weather updates for potential flash flood alerts. Those living in flood-prone areas should remain prepared for possible evacuation.
