MAHOMET, Ill. (WCIA) — A Broadway actor is returning to his home county in Central Illinois to talk about his journey and to sing a few hits. After selling out his July 20 show, Yellow & Co. in Mahomet is now adding another.

Jonathan Butler-Duplessis currently understudies Aaron Burr, George Washington, and Hercules Mulligan/James Madison in the musical hit, “Hamilton” on Broadway. Although, he wasn’t always a resident of the Big Apple. In fact, Butler-Duplessis has his roots in Champaign-Urbana as a graduate of Central High School and alum of the University of Illinois.

He has also starred in professional productions in theaters across the Midwest, including The Paramount Theatre in Aurora, The Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire, The Milwaukee Repertory Theater, the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, and more.

Later this month, Butler-Duplessis will make special appearances in Mahomet to talk about his vibrant career and belt out some songs — even some from “Hamilton.” He will be joined by his wife, Kathleen Butler-Duplessis, who is herself an established actress and composer. She is known for her work on “Eleanor’s Very Merry Christmas Wish,” the musical “Girlhood,” and the viral internet hit, “Gimme That Fat Cat.”

The newly-added performance will be on Sunday, July 21 at 5 p.m. at 1830 Patton Drive. Doors will open at 4 p.m. for VIP ticketholders and 4:15 p.m. for general admission.
