Hazardous waste collection coming to Central Illinois in September
BLOOMINGTON – If you have hazardous waste, the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency is making it easier for you to get rid of it. The Illinois EPA is hosting numerous hazardous waste collections in partnership with local governments this fall. On Sept. 28, you can get rid of your waste at McLean County Fairgrounds in Bloomington.
Neitzel Family Open Set to Begin at Atkins Tennis Center on Monday
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Five current and six former Illinois student-athletes are set to take part in the Neitzel Family Open, a 25K men's tennis tournament on the International Tennis Federation World Tour, at Atkins Tennis Center from July 22-28. The week-long tournament will begin with singles qualifying on Monday. Thirty-two participants will take part in the singles qualifying rounds for eight spots in the 32-player main draw, and 16 teams are slated to feature in the doubles main draw.

Multiple injuries in Springfield shooting Saturday night; investigation ongoing
The Springfield Police Department reports that three people with gunshot wounds were rescued from an incident on South 15th Street on Sunday morning. At approximately 1:04 a.m., Springfield Police officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 2100 block of South 15th Street. Upon arrival, officers found two males with injuries sustained from gunfire. The victims directed the officers to a nearby house, where they found rifle casings littering the yard.
