Bear Cubs Walking Down Gravel Road Wrestle Behind Their Mother’s Back

What your parents don't know won't hurt them. Who all has gone by that tried-and-true mantra before? Sometimes it's "mother knows best," and other times it's "best if mother doesn't know." In life, you have to pick and choose when to be upfront, and when to be withheld, and the bear cubs in this video have apparently learned that pretty early on in life. At first, the footage just shows a regular ol' black bear family walk. The mother bear and her cubs (trying to keep up) are trekking down a gravel road in Maine, keeping up as fast of a pace as the little legs of the newborns can handle. It looks like the cubs are being good and just following along... until the sibling rivalry kicks in. The little bears go from walking behind their mother to fighting behind their mom's back in the blink of an eye. One of the little bears appears to check if the coast is clear, then immediately gets to rough housing with its bear cub counterpart. It's visually funny because not only are the cubs battling behind their mother's back, they are barely big enough to walk, let alone clash with one another. The adorable knock-down, drag-out went on for quite some time. Did the mother just not know it was going on? Or was she just choosing to ignore the rowdy behavior? Either one of those options is possible... and I'm going to choose to go with the "she's just letting them get tuckered out" theory. The mother bear only looks at her cubs when the fight gets so out of hand that they bump into her back side. Even then though, the mom just let it happen and got back to her regularly scheduled motherly activities. That included getting up on her hind legs when she heard a vehicle driving down the road and getting her babies out of there when she sensed danger.
