Smoke the Maine Coon Gets a Little Too Enthusiastic Petting His Guinea Pig

There's always something so sweet about inter-species friendships, and animal friends can come in all shapes in sizes, including a giant gorgeous Smoke Maine Coon cat and his little Guinea Pig buddy.

The only issue is the Maine Coon cat needs a little lesson is demonstrating his affection.

The cute video was shared by the TikTok account for @ Blackdiamondmainecoons and the video creator explains, "No guineas were hurt !! Duncan LOVES his guinea pig, they are good friends. Edit: This video is of a kitten in his forever home, I was given permission to share it. The guinea and his cats were raised together so they have a great relationship. He is not fearful. Duncan, the kitten playing with him, has always been gentle. Duncan is only 9 months old and while he is large, he is not hurting the piggie. The family that owns these babies are amazing to their pets and see them as family. This video was posted to show the relationship that Duncan has with his guinea pig. Maine coons are very loving animals, especially when raised surrounded by love. See the good in this video, everyone is happy and healthy."

Thank goodness for that! As a Maine Coon mama, I can tell you these cats can be big clumsy doofuses and they have gigantic feet so they are usually stepping where they shouldn't. It's great to know that no Guinea Pigs were harmed in this video but I think most of us could tell that the Guinea was okay!

Can Cats and Guinea Pigs Get Along?

Cats and guinea pigs can sometimes be buddies, but it largely depends on the individual personalities of both animals and how they are introduced to each other. As with any cat, never leave your cat and Guinea Pig , or gerbil, or rat, or mouse, or ferret unattended. No matter how much they seem to love each other pet parent supervision should always be required. You never know when one pet may nip another or play too roughly.

Your best case scenario with raising a Piggie and a kitty together is if the cat is calm and non-aggressive, and if the guinea pig is not overly skittish. That may end up in the best situation for them to get along peacefully. One issue is that cats are natural predators, and it may chase the piggie. Once again, make sure you never let them hang out unsupervised. Both pets safety and well-being should always come first!
