WHS grad Brown headed to Ohio Northern University
Mikey Brown Jr., a 2024 Wilmington High School graduate, will continue his academic and athletic career at Ohio Northern University. The SBAAC American Division defensive player of the year, Brown was the top all-around player on the WHS squad this season. He had 101 tackles (57 solos), a fumble recovery and three interceptions on defense. On offense, he caught 62 passes for 931 yards and 9 touchdowns while adding another touchdown on the ground.

Ed. Note: This week’ the Bethel Feature Spotlight Athlete is runner Kade Schweikhardt, a junior who comes off an all-conference cross country season. Last week, we looked at one of the top female runners in the Three Rivers Conference in Bethel sophomore Natalie Sonnanstine, so now we move over to the guys this week, Bethel junior Kade Schweikhardt. He also had quite an exceptional year running for the Bees cross country team, and he hopes to build off of his all-conference success this year.
What’s new for the 2024 Miami RedHawks?
Chuck Martin leads a Miami (OH) program which is the definition of stability in the MAC. Martin is tied with Eastern Michigan’s Chris Creighton for the longest tenured coach in the conference, preparing for year 11 on the job. Both of his coordinators are also entering year 11 with the program. His starting quarterback is entering year six.

Brown County community comes together after devastating fire
