Badgett family creates three MSU scholarships for College of Education and Human Services
MURRAY, Ky. – The Badgett family and the J. Rogers Badgett Sr. Foundation of Madisonville, Ky., have made a significant multiyear commitment to the College of Education and Human Services through the Murray State University Foundation. The Badgett family has a rich history of supporting education throughout Western Kentucky and began their support of Murray State more than 15 years ago.
Man killed in early morning Russell neighborhood shooting identified
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The name is now known of the man killed in a shooting in west Louisville from earlier this month. Louisville Metro police officers were called on Wednesday, July 10 just after 3:15 a.m. to the 2600 block of West Chestnut Street in the Russell neighborhood. That’s where they found a man who had been shot.
LMPD says 2 people taken to hospital after shooting outside Old Louisville business
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - A local man, who works to prevent violence in the city, became a witness to a double shooting outside an Old Louisville business Monday morning. Marcus Poyntz is the supervisor at Cure Violence Program YouthBuild. He was sitting at a stop light across the street when gunshots were fired. He told WAVE News he looked to his left and saw a man coming out of the store with a gun, shooting at a car in the parking lot.
Louisville named finalist city for prestigious Sundance Film Festival
Louisville is being considered as the next home for one of the nation’s the most prestigious independent film festivals, the world-renowned Sundance Film Festival. On Friday, Louisville was named one of six finalists to host the festival, beginning in 2027. Hosting the festival would bring the world to Louisville for 10 days each year for an event that serves as the premiere of innovative films and attracts more than 80,000 visitors annually.
