Rockets to Fund New Roof for Toyota Center

The Houston Sports Authority approved the franchise’s proposal on Tuesday to replace the roof that has covered the arena since it first opened in 2003 . The project is estimated to cost the team between $7.5 million and $8 million .

The project is expected to start in September , with a four or five-month timeline, and slated to be completed in March . Despite the project the Rocket’s day-to-day operations are expected to continue as usual with no impact on their 2024-25 NBA season , according to Doug Hall , the general manager of Toyota Center and Clutch City Sport & Entertainment.

The new roof will feature a logo, which is currently in development, according to KHOU 11 .

The new roof comes with a 20-year warranty with the expectation of being able to withstand up to 146-mile-per-hour hurricane-force winds.
