Sean Casten (D-Ill) was speaking during a debate on anti-ESG (environmental, social, and governance) laws. Casten used his time on the House floor to denounce the GOP and its&nbsp;support of the <a href="https://www.napa-net.org/news/2024/9/house-approves-legislation-to-block-so-called-woke-esg-investing/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank"> Protecting Americans’ Investments from Woke Policies Act </a> , which, according to House Republicans, prevents the use of ESG factors when making investment decisions for retirement plans. (On a personal note, the bill also serves as a reminder of how much a rue the day white people discovered the word “woke.”) In speaking on the importance of addressing climate change and conservative America’s persistent resistance to all things progress in the nation, Casten said: “I get it, competition is hard. It’s scary. Climate change is real.
