Illinois expands lead exposure risk areas, adds 148 new ZIP codes
The Illinois Department of Public Health has expanded its list of high-risk ZIP codes for lead exposure, recommending mandatory testing for children under 12 living in those areas, with the goal of implementing universal testing for lead exposure across all Illinois ZIP codes by 2026.
Caden Hawkins receives invite to All-American JUCO Showcase
John A. Logan College point guard and Carterville native Caden Hawkins received an invitation to the All-American JUCO Showcase on Wednesday. The event is July 12-14 in Atlanta, GA. The Showcase features the top rising sophomores in junior college basketball. More than 400 coaches attend the event and NBA scouts and national media are in attendance as well.

I don't know what it is, but my phone has been ringing off the hook nonstop with spam calls and they all come from different area codes. Has it been happening to you, too?. It's so irritating constantly declining calls all day long, especially when I've already flagged and blocked a ton of numbers from continuously re-calling. Obviously not all calls from these area codes are spam, but my phone has been super accurate in flagging those that are either spam or telemarketers trying to make a buck.

A Chester man has died after a two vehicle crash in Cape Girardeau. The crash occurred on Wednesday July 3rd around 11:45am just 1 mile west of Jackson. A tow truck driven by 55 year old Thomas Litchenegger of Jackson, was traveling westbound when 67 year old Thomas Howard of Chester, who was driving a motorcycle, pulled into his path.
