Sheriff: 'It's a shot in the dark' where to look for missing man Eric Westfall
JUNTURA — Malheur County Sheriff’s Office hasn’t completely closed the case on a Washington man who was reported missing after last having been seen camping near Juntura Hot Springs. Sheriff Travis Johnson said that some items have been located near the same area that Eric Westfall was camping with a man from Colorado. Westfall had told his mom on April 17 he had met a man, named Shaun Salsman, while camping in the area and considered him to be a friend.

Malheur County District Attorney orders city to release police body cam footage
ONTARIO — The Malheur County District Attorney on June 28 ordered Ontario Police Department to release officer-worn body camera footage to the newspaper, which had been seeking it since May 14. The footage is from a use-of-force incident in May when officers arrested a man who was experiencing a diabetic episode. Police had been called due to the man’s pickup becoming high-centered on a grass island outside a local business; en route they received a report that a pickup had also driven through a nearby residential lawn and left the scene.
