Sean Penn Shows Off Hunter Biden Painting On ‘Prominent Display’ in Home: ‘Very Insightful Guy’

Sean Penn has a Hunter Biden painting on “prominent display” in his Malibu home and the pair have been getting friendly for some time now.

New York Times reporter Maureen Dowd interviewed Penn on a variety of subjects and Penn at one point showed off a painting by Hunter Biden. Dowd described the painting, titled The Map, as being on “prominent display” in the home and wrote that it contained “the black outline of a head with colorful, detailed brushstrokes all around it.”

Penn said the painting was a gift from the president’s son. Hunter Biden has taken to selling paintings on his own recently, raking in quite a bit of coin , but also raising ethics concerns among critics.

Penn said his relationship with Hunter Biden began after a dinner with his friend Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) following Penn screening his documentary Superpower in Washington D.C. The film covered Russia’s invasion of Ukraine with firsthand footage Penn grabbed while doing advocacy work in Ukraine.

“I had no idea he lived down here,” Penn said of Hunter, who also lives in Malibu. “I thought he was off in some judicial-focused place that we see on TV.”

Penn said he related to the painting gifted to him because it was done by his friend when he was “in pieces” and trying to put his life back together. Hunter Biden has been open about his past drug addictions.

Penn called Hunter Biden a “very, very insightful guy.” He revealed the president’s son had been over to his house just the night before with his family. Penn was also the personal guest of Hunter Biden at a recent Hollywood fundraiser featuring President Joe Biden and celebrities like George Clooney and Jimmy Kimmel .

Penn’s opinion of Donald Trump has not changed. The actor and activist has been a vocal critic of the former president, and he dismissed him as “shameful” in his chat with Dowd.

“He’s shameful as an art and as a way of life,” he said.
