The French Bistro and bar, Le Bilboquet, has several locations throughout the country, opening an Atlanta location several years ago in the Buckhead Village District. With plenty of bistro tables setup outside the restaurant, it beckons patio enthusiasts for the warm in spring days ahead.

However, if you are planning a romantic evening, make reservations in advance and ask for one of the few blue velvet booths. Not only does this give you and your dining companion a perfect view of the restaurant, but you can cozy up to each other while you sip on exquistite wine.

Before you get to wine, try one of the well made cocktails. Pictured above is a balanced tequila cocktail and the right is the spicy Mezcal drink.

I'm not much of a escargot fan, so I opted for some some less traditional dishes to start, but delicious nontheless. Below left is the Tuna Tartare with sesame dressing and wonton topping. Our server, Sam, recommended it as well as the Crab and Avocado salad, pictued below right. It is doussed in a passionfruit dressing which compliments it perfectly letting the crab, avocad and grapefruit pieces to shine in each bite. Highly recommend this unique entree for any crab lover as the pieces are abundant.

Another positive note about the starters is they are packed full of flavor without making you so stuffed you cannot enjoy your main entrees. For these, the choices were lamb stew and Branzino. Though we must go back and try the Cajun chicken that has been on the menu since it opens and is likely their most popular dish.

The Branzino, served with a Saffron sauce is a must order for any fish lover. However, I quite enjoyed the lamb stew as well, served along jasmine rice with grapefruit mixed in. The entree selection is small, but it was still hard to choose a main.

It may very well be a sin to leave the restaurant not having tried dessert. The sorbets are the perfect mix of sweet and sour. But for something out of the ordinary, definitely get the Île Flottante. It is somewhat of a mix between a custart and merinque and has a bit of lime and caramel to it as well. Certainly not something you find on every restaurant menu.

We had a phenomenal server, Sam, who gave us excellent recommendations and was there when we needed him but gave us space to have a romantic date night too.
