In case you haven't heard, Governor DeSantis insulted toys that were made in china and called for more American-made manufacturing, despite the higher costs to consumers. I interviewed three Tampa moms to get their thoughts on this costly issue.

The Issue: "Made in China" Toys (And Associated Costs)

Governor DeSantis dissed Chinese-produced toys and called for more product manufacturing within the U.S. and outside of China. He stated, "All this stuff is made in China, and a lot of it breaks! It's cheap stuff... You get it from China because it's cheaper to pay, but if it doesn't even last a week, what difference does it make?... Make it here! Make it, honestly, anywhere but not China."

    Three Tampa Moms Speak Up

I interviewed three Tampa moms to get their response to Governor DeSantis' stance on this important issue. Here's what they said:

Maggie stated, "That's gotta be a joke. Who's gonna pay for all these toys then? Not me. I'm making it work on a fixed income, ya know? The last thing on my mind is who is making the toys my kids get for Christmas. They're lucky they even got some toys."

Janet stated, "Yeah, I mean, I one-hundred percent agree. I make an effort to buy local produce and support local businesses and brands. I think we need to be less reliant on other countries. The more independent we are, the better."

Sonia stated, "Getting rid of everything made in China would be an impossible task. That man [DeSantis] needs to focus on more important issues instead of catering to his fanbase."

What do you think? Do you think that DeSantis is right and that we should get our products from countries other than China (despite a higher cost)? Let me know in the comments below.
