Here's What 3 Tampa Veterans Think About DeSantis' Stance on Illegal Immigration and Terrorism

    2023-09-13

Does illegal immigration at the southern border pose a serious terrorist threat? Gov. Ron DeSantis thinks there's a "good bet" that it could increase the risk of terrorism. I interviewed three Tampa veterans to get their thoughts on this important issue.

The Issue: Illegal Southern Border Immigration Poses Risk to Americans

Despite our governor's best efforts to crack down on illegal immigration, some illegal border immigration does slip through the cracks and, according to DeSantis, it poses a risk to Americans.

Governor DeSantis stated, “I think that there is a good bet that somebody that’s come across that [southern] border will commit an act of terrorism."

    3 Tampa Veterans Speak Up

I interviewed three Tampa veterans to gather their perspectives on Gov. Ron DeSantis' stance regarding the potential terrorist threat posed by illegal immigration. Here's what they said:

Richard stated, "Not enough funding goes into it. The governor is right. The whole situation is another 9/11 waiting to happen."

Sarah stated, "DeSantis shouldn't generalize undocumented immigrants as potential terrorists. Our intelligence agencies and law enforcement are well-equipped to identify and prevent terrorist threats. We should focus on better immigration reform that addresses security concerns while showing compassion for those seeking a better life."

James stated, "We can't just let folks waltz across the border unchecked. I agree with him [DeSantis]. Border security should be a priority, no doubt about it."

What do you think? Do you think that there's a "good bet" that illegal immigration poses a serious security risk to Americans? Let me know in the comments below.

We need immigrants. Let them come here, work, raise their families here and become citizens
