3 Tampa Residents React to DeSantis on Using Military Force Against Mexican Cartels

    2023-09-13

As border security concerns heighten, many Floridians look to Governor DeSantis to stop threats like Mexican cartels. His plan? Deadly military force. I interviewed three Tampa residents to get their thoughts on this escalating issue.

The Issue: Deadly Military Force Against Mexican Drug Cartels

After seeing the border in Arizona being repaired from drug cartels cutting through, Governor DeSantis is more determined than ever to keep Americans safe if he becomes president.

DeSantis said, "I'm going to have the military at the border, one hundred percent. If they're trying to break through the wall, we will have deadly force authorized to be able to stop that... You do that a few times, the times are changing, and they will have to respond to that."

    3 Tampa Residents Speak Up

I interviewed three Tampa residents to see what they thought of our governor's response to this deadly issue. Here's what they said:

Samantha stated, "These people are trying to kill us [Americans]. We need to protect our borders, and if that means using deadly force against cartels, then so be it. It's a harsh reality, but it's necessary for our safety and we've gone to war for a hell of a lot less."

Carlos stated, "Thank god he's never going to be president. There are other more diplomatic options."

Edward stated, "I'm really worried about the consequences if this were to happen. Deadly force will escalate the situation and lead to more violence and instability, especially for people trying to cross over to get out of a bad situation. He needs to focus on cooperation with Mexico and addressing the causes of the cartel problem rather than resorting to military force right away."

What do you think? Do you think that DeSantis is right in his idea to heavily arm the border with deadly military force? Let me know in the comments below.
