Many people wonder if there should be an age limit to the U.S. presidency, considering President Biden is the oldest president we've had. Even Governor DeSantis thinks America needs a younger president. I interviewed three Tampa residents to get their thoughts on this relevant issue.

The Issue: Should the Presidency Have an Age Limit?

Throughout Biden's presidency, many people have wondered if he is too old for the position. Gov. DeSantis seems to think so.

Governor DeSantis stated, "You need an energetic president, and I think that if the founders could kind of look at this again, I do think they probably would've put in an age limit on some of these offices."

3 Tampa Residents Speak Up

I interviewed three Tampa residents to gather their thoughts on whether there should be an age limit to the U.S. presidency, especially considering President Biden's age. Here's what they said:

Ava stated, "It's a valid concern. We need a president who is not only experienced but also in good health, and many times that is found in youth."

Isabella stated, "DeSantis is right. Biden is completely gone mentally. You can see it in the interviews. Plus, the presidency ages people. You see pictures of presidents before they take the position and after? It wears them down. We need someone with vitality leading us, not someone who looks like they might have dementia."

Noah stated, "I don't think age alone should determine a candidate's eligibility. My mother is 87 and she is more capable and mentally sharp than most 50-year-olds. If someone in their 70s or 80s is still physically and mentally fit for the job, I don't see a problem with them serving as president. What matters most is their capacity to govern and make informed decisions."
