If things go according to plan for the nascent Gallatin Canyon County Water and Sewer District, a significant share of Big Sky properties along U.S. Highway 191 near the Gallatin River will disconnect from existing septic systems and connect to a centralized sewer.

Massive Missoula area subdivision garners initial approval
A standalone community with its own farm and potentially hundreds of homes at the Wye west of Missoula was initially approved by county officials this week. The Missoula Consolidated Planning Board unanimously approved the Grass Valley Gardens subdivision on Tuesday, and the Missoula County Commissioners will consider the project on August 8. The subdivision includes the first four phases of a larger development and includes 445 residential units and seven commercial lots.

Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On July 16, 2024, Missoula Police Department Officers responded to a gas station in the 1500 block of Toole Ave. Officers were informed that a 911 caller had reported that a male had pulled a knife on another person. The 911 caller further reported that the two individuals began fighting again and that one had a stick.

$35,000 Car Gets Stolen Twice in the Same Week in Missoula
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On July 4, 2024, a 2022 Toyota Camry vehicle was stolen from a Missoula business when it was parked there overnight. There were no leads and no video. On July 6, 2024, the car was located near Motel 6 on East Broadway and returned to the owners. Police were unable to determine a suspect at that time. The vehicle was damaged and taken to a local autobody shop by the owners.
City Commission approves tax increase, budget
City Commissioners voted 4-1 during their July 16 meeting to approve their intent to increase property taxes. Commissioner Shannon Wilson voted against the resolution saying she blamed the Montana Legislature for failing to take any action during the last session to address rising taxes for residential property owners even though the Montana Department of Revenue had warned that was coming.

17-Year-Old Bozeman Resident Was Stabbed 16 Times. How To Help
On the 11th of July, a 17-year-old boy was stabbed in Bozeman's Kirk Park. According to the Bozeman Police Chief, it appears that a group of juveniles had gathered in the park. At some point there ended up being a confrontation between two juvenile males. That confrontation turned into a stabbing.
