Some notable entries have been Damsel starring Robert Pattinson and Mia Wasikowska and Netflix’s Abducted in Plain Sight.

“We take chances on talented but little-known artists and are committed to discovering new voices that will shape the future of film. Numerous films from our festival have gone on to great success, including Academy Award nominations, and have gone on to screen at many other festivals,” says their website.

Mammoth is a wonderful place to host a film festival surrounded by the awe inspiring Eastern Sierra. There is a Hollywood influence on the area being a premier destination for skiing and tourism with Los Angeles only a few hours drive away.

It’s always sure to bring in some of the up and coming independent movie makers out there.

There are eight categories of films to be judged including, Feature Narrative, Feature Documentaries, Short Films, and Animated Short Films.

A couple of the feature films this year include Union (USA) that tackles worker union issues in Staten Island, and The Other Profile (France, DR Congo) that follows a filmmaker who finds an exact replica of his own Facebook profile and his journey to tracking down his mysterious double.
