Mammoth Mountain Ski Patrol (MMSP) has been around for 70 years. Since 1954, a “crazy clan of ski fanatics” drove from Southern California to Mammoth every weekend to patrol the slopes, and now the crazy clan has over 1,200 members.

The Mammoth Mountain Ski Patrol Alumni Association (MMSPAA) was founded in 2018 to “support the ongoing education and training pertaining to job-related fundamentals for the active members of the Mammoth Mountain Ski Patrol,” MMSPAA website .

They also raise funds for ski patrollers who are injured on the job, set up scholarship programs to assist current MMSP members, and continue the legacy of the camaraderie of their perilous job.

You can support the MMSPA through their online store , and let me tell you, it’s not just t-shirts and coffee mugs. They have some really cool stuff.

They still have some of their iconic “ 2022-2023 Endless Winter ” shirts. Imagine having that shirt in 20 years and telling your kids about the infamous ‘22/’23 winter, and how it doesn’t snow like that anymore.

They also have some ski patrol prints , by Kurt Pearson, that are currently on sale, or a pair of custom, novelty Mammoth Mountain ski tips . Could be some nice gifts for the ski patroller in your life.

In addition, they are selling some pieces of Mammoth’s history.

Yeah, a t-shirt would be cool, but how about a “ Premium Ground and Buffed 105mm Shell Casing Trailer Hitch Cover ?” Or a “ 105mm Howitzer Shell Casing ” that’s complete with custom Mammoth details.

Mammoth Mountain is one of the last resorts in the U.S. to use WWII military grade Howitzers to mitigate avalanche danger on the mountain.

However, on to the big ticket items. Up for grabs are some of the old chair lifts that have been scattered around the mountain and retired as Mammoth makes some improvements.

They have a few different ones they’re selling from triples and doubles to just the chairs or chairs with the stems still attached.

They’re also raffling off a couple that will definitely be historical artifacts of Mammoth Mountain.

One of which is a triple from Chair 23 that’s currently on display at the Looney Bean in Mammoth Lakes. The other is a super old school tall double chair with the stem still attached that is on display in the village at Mammoth.

Head to their shop to see what’s still available and learn more about MMSPAA.
