Unlicensed driver fled scene of fatal hit-and-run, cops say
A man who does not have a valid driver’s license has been charged with fleeing the scene after fatally striking a pedestrian. John Marrone, 68, of Seaside Park, is accused of taking off in his Ford F-150 after striking 48-year-old Gonzalo Jimenez-Hernandez at the intersection of Route 166 and Old Freehold Road in Toms River, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.

EAST HANOVER — Another infant has died after being left in a car in New Jersey. Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll said East Hanover Police were called after a 6- month-old girl was noticed inside a vehicle parked in a parking lot on South Ridgedale Avenue at Route 10 in East Hanover around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 17. She was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Car Fire in Underground Garage at Union Stop & Shop Sunday Night
UNION, NJ – An automatic fire alerted Union firefighters to the Stop & Shop at 1201 Stuyvesant Avenue on Sunday night. Upon arrival, firefighters found a fully involved vehicle on fire in the underground parking garage, causing heavy smoke. Union Fire Chief Greg Ricciardi said the store above was searched and evacuated. Firefighters stretched a hose to extinguish the fire and the sprinkler system activated, which helped smother the fire, he said.
