    Final wanted suspect arrested in connection to Manassas Mall shooting

    PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — Police said they have arrested the fifth and final suspect in connection to a shooting that took place at Manassas Mall on the afternoon of July 9.

    The Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD) said that at around 2:10 p.m. on July 9, officers went to the mall, located at 8300 Sudley Rd., to investigate a shooting that was occurring. Two people were hurt in the incident.

    Police arrested three men that day:

    • Daevon Russell, 18, of Manassas
    • Joshuah Minas Hernandez, 18, of Manassas
    • Skyler James Agley, 23, of Manassas

    PWCPD said detectives arrested 22-year-old Eric Ronaldo Benitez, of Manassas on July 10. The charges against him were willfully discharging a firearm in a public place, using a firearm in the commission of a felony, and two counts of malicious wounding.

    As of Friday, Benitez was being held without bond.

    Detectives were previously searching for the fifth and final suspect, 18-year-old Tayvion Omari Thornton, of no fixed address. According to police, officers arrested him on July 15.

    Thornton was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, principal in the second degree willfully discharging a firearm in a public place, using a firearm in the commission of a felony, and two counts of principal in the second degree malicious wounding.

    PWCPD said Thornton was being held without bond.

    Police said that investigators believe they identified and arrested the main people involved in the shooting but still were looking for potential witnesses.
