45-year-old cyclists dies after SUV collides with bicycle
A 45-year-old Bradenton man was killed after bring by an SUV in a crosswalk in Manatee County. The Florida Highway Patrol reports the bicyclist was traveling northbound and crossing the crosswalk from the median near Cortez Rd. and 24th St. W in Bradenton when a Chevrolet SUV struck the victim.

More roundabouts planned for Lakewood Ranch
Love them or hate them, a dozen new roundabouts are either planned or proposed for Lakewood Ranch roads. Manatee County's staff is negotiating with Schroeder-Manatee Ranch (Lakewood Ranch’s parent company) and the Lakewood Ranch Stewardship District to construct a series of roundabouts on State Road 64, Bourneside Boulevard and University Parkway.

Ex-Florida Keys Pastor Faces Slew of Disturbing Child Abuse Charges
A former Florida Keys pastor is facing charges of child sexual abuse and child pornography after police discovered depraved images of his crimes, according to prosecutors. Jonathan Elwing — who was pastor at Islamorada's First Baptist Church for seven years before he joined Palm View First Baptist Church in Manatee County — was arrested on June 20 on more than a dozen capital felony charges including two counts of sexual battery, six counts of production of child sexual abuse material, and six counts of possession of child sexual abuse material.
