Massachusetts’s Berklee College of Music has appointed Jim Lucchese as its fifth president, effective as of January 1, 2025. The new 16-date fall headlining tour launches September 19th in Fort Lauderdale and will make stops in Jacksonville, St. Petersburg, Richmond, Washington, DC, Nashville, Syracuse, and Philadelphia, among other cities, before wrapping October 12th in Boston.
Tewksbury woman plans to buy new car with lottery winnings
A lucky day for Hillary Fetters of Tewksbury, as she became the winner of a $120,000 prize after the numbers she played on her Keno ticket were among those selected in a game drawn on June 25. Fetters initial $40,000 prize was upped to $120,000, after a 3X Bonus multiplier was drawn for the game. Fetters elected to add the bonus multiplier to her wager for an additional dollar per game. Fetters claimed her prize on July 18 at the Massachusetts State Lottery Headquarters in Dorchester. She said she plans to buy a new car with her winnings.

Woman sentenced for making hoax bomb threat against Boston Children's
A Massachusetts woman was sentenced to probation for calling in a hoax bomb threat against Boston Children's Hospital in 2022. The U.S. Attorney's Office said 37-year-old Catherine Leavy of Westfield, Massachusetts, pled guilty to one count of making a false bomb threat and one count of intentionally conveying false or misleading information in September 2023.
There’s a Vacancy on Bedford Planning Board
The deadline for applying for appointment to fill a six-plus-month seat on the Bedford Planning Board is 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9. The vacancy results from the resignation of Jacinda Barbehenn, who is moving out of town. Under the town bylaws, the remaining members of the board, in a joint meeting with the Select Board, interview applicants and name a replacement to serve until the next town election, March 8, 2025. The remaining year will be on the local ballot.

Potential Issues Brewing In Red Sox Bullpen Ahead Of 2024 Trade Deadline
The Boston Red Sox have played themselves into playoff contention over the past month and a half, raising a .500 record to 53-42 before the All-Star break. That reportedly changed the organization’s trade deadline policy, at least for now, from on-the-fence to a buyer’s mentality. However, Boston came out of the break and was brutally swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers on the road. The offense struggled at times, but it wasn’t the biggest concern.
