145th Mandan Rodeo Days begin on Tuesday

MANDAN, N.D. — The 145th Mandan Rodeo Days begin tomorrow night from the Dale Pahlke Arena. After a successful first year in their new permanent home, the Rodeo Days committee is excited to build upon last year with some changes around the arena.

The Rodeo Days a year ago served as an opportunity to learn what improvements were needed to address coming into this week. When it came to making upgrades, the committee focused on the spectators and making their time at the rodeo even more enjoyable.

“Some changes that we made from last year that we learned from was our seating,” Chairman Heather Jacobson-Bauer says. “We widened the seats up from 18 to 21 inches, so there’s a little bit more space there. The other thing that we did is we made what we call a viewing deck. So, there’s a different area to be able to stand and watch from here on the south end of our arena.”

While changes were made ahead of Tuesday’s start, some things will stay the same with homegrown talent competing this week, like Mandan’s Ty Breuer.

“The crowd just goes wild when those contestants come through,” Jacobson-Bauer says. “And they’re from North Dakota, they’re from the Mandan area, Bismarck area. And the crowd just really appreciates that. And the contestants do, too. I think one thing about Mandan Rodeo Days is that the contestants really appreciate how we as a committee treat them.”
