BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — This year’s Mandan Rodeo Days will feature a special guest as part of its Independence Day celebration — North Dakota State Governor Doug Burgum.

According to a press release from Mandan Rodeo Days, Burgum will carry the American flag into the rodeo’s grand arena during their grand entry on Thursday, July 4th. He will ride on one of Chad Berger’s Dakota Rodeo Company horses while showcasing the flag shortly before the National Anthem.

145th Mandan Rodeo Days begin on Tuesday

“We are so appreciative of Governor Burgum that he would choose to join us for the 145th Mandan Rodeo Days this year on July 4th,” said Rodeo Days Committee Chairwoman Heather Jacobson-Bauer. “It means a lot to this committee that works so hard to put together this rodeo that he would want to be a part of one of North Dakota’s favorite summer traditions.”

Mandan Rodeo Days begins on July 2nd at 7:30 p.m. and runs through July 4. The performance, including Burgum’s grand entry, can be watched in part on ProRodeoLive on the Cowboy Channel or the Cowboy Channel Plus app.

Tickets for the rodeo are available on its website .
