MORTON COUNTY, ND ( KXNET ) — Around the same time the Mandan Rodeo was happening last week, deputies in Morton County were trying to wrangle a man who they say was causing problems.

Deputies say it happened on July 3 when they were called to a property along Highway 6 south of Mandan.

A woman told deputies a man was at his parent’s home and was taking items from the garage. When a deputy arrived, he said the man, John Berger, ran off.

A deputy called Berger’s father who said Berger was not allowed on the property.

Deputies chased after Berger, they said he then ran into a slough and refused to come out.

Deputies were eventually able to talk Berger into coming out and he was arrested. Berger was taken to the Burleigh Morton County Jail.

He’s facing one felony count of burglary. Berger has a preliminary hearing next month.
