The beginning of a new era in the Big 12 started with a bang on Jul. 1 when the Kansas State Wildcats earned the first commitment from a five-star prospect in school history.

In a major recruiting win, the Wildcats and head coach Chris Klieman were able to keep five-star tight end Linkon Cure in the Sunflower State choosing KSU over the likes of the Oregon Ducks and Texas A&M Aggies .

Prior to his commitment, linebacker Marvin Simmons of the 2001 class was the highest-rated pledge in school history. He was rated as a four-star with a player rating of 0.9787. Cure is rated as a five-star and has a player rating of 0.9837.

Cure has the size and athletic ability to dominate up the seams on the football field. His brother, Leyton, recently transferred to Kansas from Division II Fort Hays State. It is a new level of sibling rivalry in the Cure household.

Cure’s commitment was announced by On3 among other outlets on Monday.

Cure becomes the No. 10 commitment of the 2025 recruiting class at Kansas State. The Wildcats sit at No. 14 in the new-look Big 12 and No. 62 overall. This is the type of commitment that can create a ripple effect for Klieman and the staff in Manhattan.
