Just weeks before the MTA's congestion pricing plan is set to begin, a new report claims Governor Kathy Hochul wants to slam the brakes on the toll.

The New York Times reports she's worried that the $15 charge for traveling south of 60th Street in Manhattan could harm the city's economic recovery from the pandemic. Hochul has even begun looking at a possible business tax to make up for the $1 billion in revenue that congestion pricing is expected to produce.

Congestion pricing is scheduled to begin on June 30th and is facing multiple lawsuits. It's unclear if Hochul would need the support of the state legislature in order to delay its implementation.
