NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- Three men were indicted on murder and other charges Tuesday in connection with the death of a man who was shot during a robbery in Midtown Manhattan and died from a blood clot a month later.

The three men—Richard Johnson, 34, Jarel Moore, 37, and Michael Vizcaino, 34—all face a charge of second-degree murder in the death of 35-year-old Tobias Savice.

Savice was shot in the ankle during the Jan. 6 robbery at a building in Midtown, leaving him unable to walk and causing him to develop a blood clot that killed him in February, according to the Manhattan D.A.'s Office.

According to court documents, Savice had reached out to Vizcaino, who was his tailor, to schedule an appointment for clothing alterations, and Vizcaino arranged a meeting at a building near West 38th Street and Eighth Avenue.

But instead of alterations, Vizcaino, Moore and Johnson allegedly hatched a plan to rob Savice. Johnson was lying in wait in a stairwell when Savice got off an elevator at the seventh floor around 1:20 p.m. on the day of the meeting. He pulled a gun on Savice and demanded his $42,000 Rolex watch and other belongings, prosecutors said.

Savice refused, sparking a struggle, during which Johnson allegedly shot Savice in the ankle. Johnson took off with the watch and met Moore outside, and the pair later attempted to pawn the watch in Midtown, prosecutor said.

Savice suffered a fractured tibia bone, had to receive multiple surgeries and was hospitalized for several days. He was also unable to walk, and nearly a month later, he developed a blood clot and died on Feb. 4.

In addition to the second-degree murder charge, all three men face a first-degree robbery charge. Johnson and Moore also face weapons charges. Johnson was also charged with drug possession over vials of cocaine allegedly found on him during his arrest.

"These defendants allegedly coordinated and enacted a gunpoint robbery that led to the death of Tobias Savice, a good-spirited family man," Manhattan D.A. Alvin Bragg said in a statement. "Although Mr. Savice remained strong on his road towards recovery, he sadly succumbed to the effects of his injuries."
