The teenager accused of fatally stabbing a New Jersey teen in Manhattan in November was arraigned on an indictment earlier this month by a grand jury.

Gianluca Bordone, 19, of Long Island appeared in a Manhattan court on July 1 for the stabbing of 17-year-old Rocco Rodden. Rodden's 19-year-old brother was also injured.

Bordone faces charges of first-degree manslaughter, first-degree attempt to commit the crime of assault and second-degree assault.

The teen was released on a $1 million bond, lowered from $4 million after the defense proposed a bail package. He was required to surrender his passport, sign a waiver of extradition, is not allowed to have any contact with the surviving victim or the family, will be under home confinement and monitored by Avenues for Justice and must lead a law-abiding life.

Rodden was a St. Joseph's Regional High School student in Montvale and member of the football team.

"He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, a contagiously bright smile, and a life characterized by a profound sense of caring, compassion, and the utmost loyalty," Rodden's obituary said. "A true warrior, the light of the darkest room, the eye of the tiger."

Rodden was killed after several fights broke out at a party outside an axe-throwing facility in New York City at about 2 a.m. on Thanksgiving. The District Attorney's Office said believed everyone at the party had been drinking heavily. It said one of those fights was between Bordone and his friends and Rodden and his friends.

Prosecutors said Rodden was stabbed twice, once in the chest and once in the back, after he was part of a group of people chasing Bordone.

The St. Joseph School community remembered Rodden as someone who was always there for others. Former football coach Dan Marangi said he was "loved and loved by everyone."

Bordone's next court date is scheduled for Sept. 30.
