Man dead, another injured after being hit by vehicle in Manhattan: NYPD

MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) — A man is dead and another is injured after being hit by a vehicle in Manhattan on Monday, police said.

Two men, both 51 years old, were crossing the street near East 105th Street and First Avenue in East Harlem around 3:30 p.m. when a driver “failed to operate the roadway” and struck them, according to the NYPD.

The men were taken to hospitals to be treated for their injuries. One of the men was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to officials.

Witnesses told PIX11 News the man pushed someone out of harm’s way moments before the crash.

The driver remained at the scene and was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries, police said.

Police told PIX11 News charges are pending against the driver.
