    Manitou Chamber Music Festival announces 11th season

    (MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo.) — The Manitou Chamber Music Festival will present its 11th season with a series of concerts in late July. This year’s performances will feature works by composers from various eras, offering an unforgettable experience. All concerts will be held at the Chapel of Our Savior.

    The festival opens with a nature-themed concert, featuring music inspired by landscapes and animals. The program includes pieces by Haydn, Schubert, and Peter Sculthorpe, blending classical and contemporary compositions. The second concert, an all-Prokofiev program, will feature his two violin sonatas and Piano Sonata No. 6, promising a treat for fans of his innovative style.

    In the second week, the festival features a “smorgasbord” concert highlighting the talent of lower-strings artists with pieces by Janáček, Rebecca Clarke, and Henri Vieuxtemps. The season concludes with a grand gala concert, uniting faculty and students in a celebration of chamber music.

    • July 19: “Soviet Angst” – Prokofiev Violin and Piano sonatas
    • July 23: “Individual Artistry”
