MANITOWOC – Jason Prigge shared an update on his wife's condition after he was able to visit her in the hospital for the first time in weeks after a motorcycle crash injured them both.

"It was amazing to see her smile and her spirit in full bloom," he wrote. "She emits a joy that positively affects anyone in her orbit."

Jason and Tina Prigge were severely injured in a motorcycle crash July 6 when a vehicle swerved into the lane where the two were riding. The crash happened near the town of Cecil in Shawano County while the couple were on their way to a vacation in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

Jason's leg was crushed and Tina lost both limbs on her left side.

Tina is still in the hospital, but no longer in the Intensive Care Unit, Jason said.

In the update shared both on his social media and on the GoFundMe page created by Grow It Forward CEO Amber Daugs on the Prigges' behalf, Jason said the last time he saw Tina was a couple of weeks ago when he was still in the hospital.

Jason wrote: "She feels your support and is blown away by the kindness we have received in the past few weeks. What you have done as a community confirms what we have always known. This truly is the Coolest Coast."

Jason also shared that Tina is still undergoing surgeries and procedures to treat her leg after a "battle with infection."

Additionally, Jason shared through the Jason Prigge Art Facebook page that he is selling some of his personal painting inventory.

He wrote: "We have lost the majority of our income. Time to shift. I will be selling my painting inventory soon to help keep the lights on."

The GoFundMe page created for the Prigges by Daugs has reached $213,064 out of a $250,000 goal, as of July 31.

In addition to the GoFundMe page, the community has hosted several fundraisers for the couple, including a large event July 11 at Digger Dave's. Dozens of people also turned out for a candlelight vigil July 13 at First Presbyterian Church.
