The Bellmawr Fire Department has taken delivery of 2 new pieces of fire apparatus. The first is a 2024 Pierce 75’ Quint. A quint fire truck is an apparatus that combines the equipment capabilities of a ladder truck and the water-pumping ability of a fire engine. As its name implies, it features five main tools to carry out firefighting functions: a Pump, a Water tank, Fire hose, an Aerial device and Ground ladders.

Fire News National Award Winner Honored
Fire News is pleased to announce the winner of the 2023 Fire News National Award for Heroic Fire Unit of the Year to the Millville Fire Department. The Millville Fire Department received the Heroic Fire Unit of the Year Award due to the heroic effort used to save a family from a fire in a commercial-residential building. While the family was stuck in their apartment on the 3rd floor, firefighters Kohansky and Hack Jr attacked the fire in the hallway to protect the family’s apartment. Firefighter Sooy secured a water supply for them and assisted in stretching the hose line up the stairs. Ladder 35 arrived with firefighter Quay operating the ladder. Fire fighters Hall and Lippincott ascended the ladder and brought the family of four to safety. It is thanks to their teamwork and courage that the occupants were rescued safely.

Delaware State Police arrested 52-year-old Linwood Sample of Smyrna, for a 7th offense felony DUI early Sunday morning. Officials said on July 28, 2024, at approximately 12:34 a.m., a trooper on patrol saw a gray Dodge Magnum with a fictitious Pennsylvania license plate weaving left and right while driving southbound on US Route 13 near Fieldsboro Road in Townsend. The trooper saw the car make additional traffic violations and pulled it over on Fieldsboro Road.
