    Schlosser named Division II District 9 Player of the Year, 17 from Richland County honored

    MANSFIELD — There is no denying now that Luke Schlosser is the best of the best.

    He was named the Division II District 9 Baseball Player of the Year by the coaches association after his standout season. Schlosser hit .354 with 29 hits, seven doubles, three triples, a home run, 19 RBIs, 31 runs scored and 21 walks as he led the Clear Fork Colts to a 23-4 record.

    DIVISION III: Jarek Ringler tabbed with first team All-District 9 honors in Division III

    He was also dominant on the mound going 8-1 with a 1.17 earned run average piling up 92 strikeouts in 54 innings of work. Schlosser was a Division II first team All-District 9 selection along with teammate junior shortstop Jay Jackson, who hit a team-high .478 with 43 hits, five doubles, five triples, three home runs, 34 RBIs and 30 runs scored.

    Ontario's Carter Weaver was also a first-team selection after he hit .408 with 31 hits, six doubles, three triples, a home run, 25 RBIs and 22 runs scored. He also went 3-1 on the mound this season with a 1.75 ERA piling up 42 strikeouts in 32 innings of work.

    Shelby's Nic Eyster took first team honors as well after hitting .338 with 25 hits, four doubles, a triple, nine RBIs, 26 runs scored and 16 walks. He went 8-3 on the mound with a 3.30 ERA piling up 42 strikeouts in 59 ⅓ innings of work.

    The four first teamers were part of 17 Richland County baseball players who took home District 9 honors. Clear Fork's Nate Lind, Madison's Cameron Kuhn and Ontario's Carter Walters were second-team selections while Shelby's Alex Bruskotter and Karsen Homan, Madison's Ethan Glasgo and Owen Morrow, Clear Fork's Garret Hotz and Chandler Ball, Lexington's Jaxon Brown and Braden Mumaw and Mansfield Senior's Guy Trader and Joshua Malone were honorable mention selections.
