MADISON TOWNSHIP — The Ontario Warriors continued their success in the 2024 season with a 34-14 win over the Madison Rams.

Despite inclement weather, the Warriors found offense plentiful and came home with a win. They had huge performances from several players despite it being a downpour all game long.

Senior quarterback Bodpegn Miller unofficially finished with 147 passing yards and two passing touchdowns, as well as 29 yards on the ground. Junior wideout Landon Foltz caught one of those touchdowns and 79 yards receiving despite the heavy rain. Foltz was Miller’s go to target, especially on third downs. The duo buried any momentum Madison would get on defense.

Senior running back Mason Vantilburg had a monster game for the Warriors, rushing for 156 yards and 3 TDs, as well as 40 yards and another score through the air. His longest of the day was a 45-yard run on Ontario’s first play of the second half.

“They’re my friends, they held all their blocks and they’re a big part of the game,” Vantilburg said of his offensive line.

With Miller’s speed and Vantilburg’s power, the Warriors have themselves one of the better run games in all of Ohio. They will be giving MOAC foes trouble all season long. After going 3-0 in non-conference play, the Warriors now turn their focus to MOAC competition.

Coach Aaron Eckert is happy with three non conference wins but knows they will have to turn it up for conference play.

"It’s kind of like a second season, and so for us our goal is to compete each and every week and hopefully put ourselves at the end of the year at a place where we want to be. We just got to go 1-0 every week and that starts with doing our job at practice and being accountable,” said Eckert.

The Madison Rams drop to 0-3.

Senior gunslinger Cameron Kuhn threw for 90 yards and a touchdown and 14 more on the ground. Colton Adkins was a big part of the offense as well as senior Khris Adkins-Tolbert, who notched 32 yards on the ground and 40 yards through the air. Kuhn connected with receiver Justin McCraney on an 8-yard pass in the first quarter and  Ja’karri Favers ran in a 2-yard score and caught the 2-point conversion in the fourth quarter.

Ontario moves to 3-0 and will travel to River Valley next week to take on the 2-1 Vikings. Madison moves to 0-3 and will be at home once again next week against the 1-2 Generals.
