    Tourney Trail: Shelby Whippets earn No. 1 overall seed in Division IV district tournament

    \MANSFIELD — The matchups are set.

    High school volleyball coaches from all over the state held their annual district draws on Sunday to figure out who, when and where their teams will be playing in this year's district tournaments.

    Let's check and see how things ended up for Richland County schools.

    BOYS SOCCER TOURNAMENT DRAW: Tourney Trail: Madison takes No. 1 overall seed in rugged Division III district tournament

    Division III Willard District

    The Madison Rams earned the No. 5 seed and will host No. 6 Toledo Waite at 6 p.m. on Oct. 16 for a sectional championship. The winner advances to play No. 1 seed Norwalk at 6 p.m. on Oct. 21 at Willard in the district semifinals.

    Mansfield Senior took the No. 7 seed and will travel to No. 2 Ashland at 6 p.m. on Oct. 16 for a sectional championship. Ashland swept the Tygers in both meetings during the regular season.

    Tiffin Columbian is the No. 3 seed and hosts No. 4 Sandusky at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 16 for a sectional title.

    The Division III district semifinals will be at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 21 with the title match scheduled for 6 p.m. on Oct. 23 at Willard High School.

    Division IV Riverdale District

    The Shelby Whippets are on a historical run of late and were rewarded for it on Sunday with the No. 1 overall seed in a tough Division IV Riverdale District. The Whippets will host No. 7 seed St. Marys Memorial at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 17. It will be the second game of a doubleheader sectional championship night with the first game featuring No. 4 Kenton vs No. 5 Ontario which will begin at 6 p.m. at Shelby.

    The Lexington Lady Lex earned the No. 2 overall seed and will host No. 8 Van Wert at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 17. The first game of the night will be No. 3 Liberty-Benton bs No. 6 Upper Sandusky which will also be at Lexington High School.

    The Division IV district semifinals are slated for 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 22 while the title match is at 6 p.m. on Oct. 24 at Riverdale High School.

    Division V Seneca East District

    The Crestview Cougars picked up the No. 5 seed in the Division V Seneca East District tournament and will travel to Huron to face No. 3 Galion at 6 p.m. on Oct. 17. The second game of the night will feature No. 2 Huron vs No. 7 Clear Fork at 7:30 p.m. These will be sectional championship games.

    Willard earned the No. 1 overall seed and will host Port Clinton at 6 p.m. on Oct. 17 for a sectional championship. The winner takes on No. 4 Edison at 6 p.m. on Oct. 22 at Seneca East High School in the district semifinals.

    The Division V district semifinals will be at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 22 with the title match at 6 p.m. on Oct. 24. All games will be at Seneca East.

    Division VI Shelby District

    The Mansfield Christian Flames picked up the No. 4 overall seed in the Division VI Shelby District and will take on No. 5 Lucas at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 16 at Buckeye Central High School for a sectional championship. Buckeye Central is the No. 1 seed and hosts Bucyrus in the first game of the night at 6 p.m.

    No. 2 Seneca East takes on No. 6 Wynford at 7:30 p.m. and No. 3 New London takes on No. 7 Colonel Crawford at 6 p.m. on Oct. 16. Both games will be at Seneca East and will crown sectional champions.

    The Division VI district semifinals are slated for 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 21 with the championship game at 6 p.m. on Oct. 23. All games will be at Shelby High School.

    Division VII Seneca East District

    The Plymouth Big Red took the No. 5 seed and will play No. 4 Danbury at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 17 at St. Paul in a sectional championship match. No. 2 St. Paul plays No. 8 St. Peter's in the first match of the night at 6 p.m.

    Fremont St. Joseph Central Catholic was tabbed the No. 1 seed and plays No. 7 Sandusky St. Mary Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 17 with No. 3 South Central and No. 6 Crestline playing in the first match at 6 p.m. at SJCC.

    The Division VII district semifinals are slated for 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 21 and the title match is at 6 p.m. on Oct. 23. All games will be at Seneca East High School.
