Letters to the Editor: Two different voting perspectives

    Vote to protect democracy

Regarding the June 20 article, ''Mansfield Gay Pride Association Pride celebration moves to June for first time,'' it was very well attended, and I was proud to see all of the local support for our LGBTQ+ community especially from local businesses and religious organizations. Thank you!

I would also ask people to continue with this community support and vote only for candidates that support LGBTQ+ people and their civil rights and to boycott businesses and religious organizations hostile to LGBTQ+ rights. My primary concern is with the never-ending conservative Republican bills that are actively trying to hurt our LGBTQ+ youth by banning health care for them, stopping them from using the restroom or playing sports that align with their gender identity, along with implementing book bans that show diverse characters and trying to pass a bill that could potentially jails librarians for books they don't like, and forcing school personnel to out minors to their parent or guardian when it may not be safe for that to be known at home.

If lawmakers want to help our youth, they should be focused on stopping gun violence and mass shootings, supporting clean energy like solar and wind, and stopping methane emissions that come from fracking and factory farms, and instead focus on implementing the abortion rights and marijuana dispensaries issues that Ohio voters wanted and passed. If you care about civil rights for all from LGBTQ+, minorities, immigrants, voting rights and want to protect the environment, gun control and reproductive rights, then please help protect democracy and vote for every Democrat in the upcoming November election.

    Another viewpoint on climate change

This is in response to the letter to the editor Nancy Snyder wrote a week or so ago.

Climate change has been happening since before humans walked the earth. God made the earth like this and no amount of tax money is going to change it.

I am an America-loving patriot that will vote for America, not for a party that is for open borders and 59 genders.

I'm not just voting for the person. I'm voting for the platform. I'm voting for the Second Amendment. I'm voting for the next Supreme Court justice. I'm voting for the Electoral College and the republic (not democracy) that we live in.

I'm voting for the police and law and order. I'm voting for the military and the veterans who fought for and died for this country. I'm voting for the flag that is always missing from the Democrat background. I'm voting for the right to speak my opinion and not be censored like Twitter was before it was dismantled by Elon Musk.

I'm voting for secure borders. I'm voting for the right to praise my God without fear. I'm voting for every unborn soul the Democrats want to abort. I'm voting for freedom and the American dream. I'm voting for good and against evil. I'm not just voting for one person. I'm voting for the future of my country!

    God Bless America!

    David Secrist, Butler
