Swawilla Fire is 10% contained, but blaze still burning towards town of Keller
COULEE DAM - Fire crews are making progress on the Swawilla Fire burning east of Coulee Dam, but the danger for town of Keller appears to be far from over. Fire officials say the 30,667-acre blaze continues to be active to the north and is branching towards the northeast, directly towards the Keller community. Swawilla Fire PIO Manny Mendoza says the blaze has burned to the top of Mt. Tolman as of Friday. Over the next two days, Mendoza says crews will try to box the fire in before it reaches the small town. The fire's southeastern flank is now considered 10% contained and favorable weather over the next few days should expedite progress on the containment of the fire. Evacuation levels and areas have not changed since our Thursday update.
